Love Statues Across the Word

Penn’s love statue is arguably one of the most famous public art works on campus, one that has become an icon for the university and for the city of Philadelphia as a whole. But did you know that there are other versions of the love statue around the world? In locations such as Milan, Italy, and Jerusalem, Israel, many of these statues with love written in various languages were also created by the same artist who created the original statue, Robert Indiana. Last year, I actually visited the love statue in Jerusalem which is located at the Israel Museum there. It similarly spells out love but in Hebrew, using the word “Ahava”, which is also composed of 4 letters when written in Hebrew, similarly to “Love” in English.
