The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) will be celebrating its second annual Animation First Festival in New York City from Friday, January 25 to Sunday, January 27. Showcasing a variety of French animation and other forms of media, the festival explores the extensive history of French animation.
In addition to 17 premieres, the line-up includes old classics, innovative shorts, video game demonstrations, and panels with animators and filmmakers, all the while immersing visitors in the rich history of France’s animation studios and schools. Don’t miss the opening night screening of Kirkou and the Sorceress, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and its filmmaker and Guest of Honor, Michel Ocelot. Sixteen emerging and established female filmmakers will also be taking the spotlight this year at Animation First.
The only festival of its kind in the United States, Animation First is an amazing opportunity to see film premiers and interact with other animation lovers. Tickets range from $10-$15 per screening for students with ID and $16-$25 for adults. Packages and general passes are also available for purchase.
