Uniting a City

While the Sixers’ entire in-area experience can be described as a work of art (highly recommend looking up some of the hype up videos – they are extremely well done), perhaps the most impressive occurs right before player introductions. The Sixers have created a unique tradition different from any other in the NBA, where a local celebrity or figure (see Lane Johnson and Chris Long, two Eagles players, in the photo) rings a bell to kick off the game. They are able to seamlessly blend the history of Philadelphia with a display that pumps up the crowd and showcases a variety of different figures. This article below (though I believe it is behind a paywall) describes some of the history of this unique tradition.
