“ikea”

I generally prefer to minimize my association to the ‘hype’ community, however I was recently intrigued when I learned that one of the ‘hypest’ and currently hottest fashion brands Off White is teaming up with Ikea to produce a line of home furnishings. The collection includes rugs, a chair with a bright orange foot-stop, as well as a brown bag labeled “storage”.

What I found most interesting about this new collab was the pricing. Despite Off White’s typically extravagant pricing, the items created in part with Ikea are priced much closer to the other fixtures that the furniture store carries, rather than the luxury prices that Off White charges.

Perhaps this is a testament to the beliefs of Ikea, or maybe it’s an acknowledgement from Virgil of the importance of affordable, simple household goods.
