Artist-Come-Hacker Thomas Webb On His Data Driven Art

Thomas Webb’s works, which primarily explore the intersection between data, computer algorithms, and art, reminded me strongly of the project we are currently working on, although Webb’s explorations involve more text-based data and photography and are kept within a 2-dimensional medium while we are working with more abstractions of numerical data and translating them to higher-dimensional pieces. While the sources of data for Webb’s art vary, many of his works share a sense of commonality as they all invoke a similar neo-cyberpunk aesthetic that seems to draw connections between the imagery of the past and the technology-centric reality of our present.
