Tintoretto: Artist of Renaissance Venice – on view at the National Gallery in Washington DC

To celebrate the 500th anniversary of his birth, the National Gallery is hosting a retrospective of Jacopo Tintoretto’s work. The exhibition, which opened last week, runs through  July. Several of the featured paintings on loan from countries around the world have never been shown in the United States before. The exhibition’s curators Robert Echols and Frederick Ichman, are Tintoretto experts responsible for refreshing and deepening modern understandings of the artists work.
