Bento boxes.

I love ordering the combo boxes at any Japanese restaurant, and yesterday, I took note of the design of the sushi lunch box at DK sushi. In the middle of my box was the edamame and ginger/soy sauce, and around the perimeter were the different rolls, poke, and rice. In this layout, I found myself hopping between the different foods, coming back to the middle every time to grab a piece of ginger or dip a roll. My friend, on the other hand, finished the food in one corner of the box, returned to the center briefly, then moved on to a different corner of the box. The eating style by the both of us, while slightly different, shows the intention of a bento box layout: the center is designed to be a refreshing reprieve between the various foods in the box.
