Horses have for centuries been involved in human society and life. We see them as very willing servants to our causes and thankful acquaintances. Kiwi artist Liam Barr, through his “Tethered” paintings demonstrates the human desire to domesticate. His paintings reflect a clear juxtaposition between the magnificence of the regal animal and the disturbing intrinsic longing expressions of their owners. Barr successfully paints this usually well respected relationship in a new light that I found very interesting.
